She Should Run Segment
Jeni Britton Bauer is the founder and chief creative officer of Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. Before she started Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, Jeni Britton Bauer attended Ohio State University, and studied art history and fine art. Today, Jeni serves as the moderator for an in depth conversation with Judge Terri Jamison and Columbus City Auditor Megan Kilgore. Today's interview is sponsored by She Should Run, a non-profit, non-partisan organization based in Washington, D.C.
Judge Jamison is quoted "nobody can do what you can do the way you do it. Just because you do it differently, does not mean you did it wrong." She defined purpose as "pushing until it's realized, pushing against obstacles and stumbling blocks that exhaust you". Both women admitted that a campaign can have some disappointments.
City Auditor Kilgore spoke of a time that she was very disappointed that she did not get an endorsement that was important to her election. She recounted a discussion with Congresswoman Joyce Beatty where she told her "earn it." She spoke of making contacts, having conversations that ultimately earned her the endorsement. Much can be learned from each of these public servants. Grab a pen, take some notes, and get Ready to Run!
